Can I keep live rock in storage?

I'm planning on moving soon and am going to get a pico tank for my blue decorator crab and sell everything else. I was wondering if it is possible to store live rock in the storage facility or if I'm better off trying to get rid of it with the rest of my livestock. It's only 15 pounds or so, not a large amount.

Even if you had power in the storage unit (for a powerhead), temps might be an issue this time of year.

I'd either sell it or "kill" it and use it down the road, seeded with some established LR.

by kill it do you mean just let it dry out? it's not like im attached to it or anything, but am planning on building a reef again in the next few years so wouldn't mind keeping it.

Yes, that's what I mean. It would have to be recured from scratch later (as there would be dieoff from what life is in it now).

You can also "nuke" it rather than just let it die. 10% bleach water, rinse in RO several times, let dry thoroughly. That way you don't have any dead organics in the rock, you just have clean, dry, dead rock.

ok i'll have to weigh my options, I guess if when I sell my other live stock if anyone wants to buy the pieces i'll just get rid of them now and buy new ones later. thanks for the help cr and becc
