Can I rinse a coral in RO water?

I have a frag that has some bubble algae on it. I'd like to pull it and try and "roll" the bubbles off. I think I understand that bursting the bubbles releases tons of new "spores", so I'd like to be able to rinse it off with RO water before putting back in the tank.

Any issue?

If I'm not mistaken, I think that's an old wives tale. I've popped them plenty of times in my tank and haven't had an issue.

Yeah just use some water from the tank and a soft toothbrush if you can't pick them off with tweezers or a knife

thats why we are her to help with the obvious :D

i haven't had problems with mine but I do have some patches b/c i was to lazy to clean them off some frags when I put them in the tank.. luckily, for now, they are in part of the tank the I don't see... most of the time :D

From what I've read (and experiened), popping a bubble is not necessarily a good thing but isn't as tragic as it sounds. The spores have to find a place to host and attach to, and have to do that and successfully grow without being eaten. Most of the spores skim off or are eaten by fish or inverts.
