Hey,

I just got a new rock and don't have space to put it in my tank. The Styrofoam box it came in begin leaking. I have no where else to put until tomorrow. I just put it in my brute that is mixing a new batch of water. Do you think this is a bad idea? Will the polyps or Zoas die if I wait until tomorrow to introduce it into my tank?

Can you use water from your tank to store it in the add the new water to the tank? Like a mini water change? They ship coral over nifty so you could put it on a tupperware container or bag and place t in your sump til tomorrow. If possible.

Edit: Nifty= night on my thunderbolt phone.

I could.... But why not just in the brute??

Edit: Aren't zoas any palyps super hearty?

Edit: I know more ppl have done this before! Respond

Depends on how caustic the new water you're making is. If it has been mixing for a while, and it's the same temperature, it should be fine.

If you added the rock just after the salt, that would be bad.

My dogs hearty too 'm not gonna feed him raw steak cause there's a chance he can get sick. You know that water out of your tank is good so why risk it?

I just lean on the side of caution.

They are hardy, but not bulletproof. New salt that isn't aged a little can be bad. And typically we use WAY more pump flow to mix water than we would use in a tank. If you don't burn them with too-new water and dont beat them to death with a mixing pump, sure.

It doesn't need tons of water just enough to keep it wet overnight..You could also throw it in a trash bag and top it off with some water then throw it in the Styrofoam container so it won't leak. It's just one night.

It's been mixing since yesterday.

Edit: Lol at ff...mannnn this requires more work.

Just looking out for you friend. Laugh with me not at me ;).

I know what you meant

Analogy. Bad analogy. But my point got across to who it needed to get across to.

I personally wait only a couple of hours for a water change. 10-20 gallons is quite diluted with 120-150 gallons of old water. I personally wouldn't put coral in fresh mixed saltwater though.

* this is my personal preference.
