Can I use my tapwater for my water changes?

While I certainly knew what RODI was before getting into the hobby I didn't realize the benefits of it in our application. I started my daughter's betta tank and son's glo-fish tank using tap and some sort of cleaner. I was always fighting excessive algae. Once I started looking into a reef tank I started buying DI from kroger for them and haven't had significant algae since. New RODI unit should continue that for me.

I suppose tap works but for the investment most of us will make in livestock it's probably worth investing in an RODI unit for the long term.

I used tap water when I first started and it done great for a while, then I noticed i was getting a lot of algae bloom,so I tested and my phosphates were very high.So now I'm a good friend with the people at Publix lol.One day Im going to get a ro/di.
