I have one on a rock i bought, it was just called a mushroom. I am sure there's a technical name, but I don't know it

I wouldn't worry about getting the lights running just for this one little shroom, chances are it will be fine anyway they are tough.

I doubt you'll need much arm twisting to upgrade your lighting but I wouldn't sweat it just for the shroom's health.
Shrooms are quite hardy.

Corallimorphs. That's just an umbrella term for all mushroom coral/anemones. They are in the order Corallimorpharia, to be more specific you there is a genus and species name.

Mushrooms are not really corals, they are closer related to anemones actually.

This kind would be Discosoma. Interestingly, the taxonomy of corralimorphs is not entirely present. Apparently there is no fine line dividing the genus Discosoma from the genus Rhodactis.

My red mushroom :)

There's people that have hundreds of these in their tank. Most reefers caonsider then as weeds.

Nevertheless, it's always exciting to have a new coral pop up from nowhere... especially when you're newer to the hobby.

It is. Lol it has several small polyps that have popped up around it. They are getting bigger every day

I have a few in my tank. My sister have me 2 and now I have 5. But it's taken months. They reproduce really fast in her tank. I love them. Reds my favorite color so it's perfect. Congrats on your shroom and welcome to an amazing hobby.
