I am thinking about stepping up to 250 MH
but I need to know if I can bring the color out the sps with 175 MH 10k
It seems all my sps frags are turning green
they were originally brown.
So I am thinking, did I bought all green frags or I need brighter lights

I have stony corals under 150 watt lights, and they are doing well. However, my tank is very shallow at 20 inches. I would think that you would need 250 watts for 24 inches, IMHO.

Depending On The Flow The Light Should Be Fine As Long As They Are Up Top, Most Sps That Are A Little On The Cheaper Side Will Be Green In Color The Little Bit More Expensive Side Is Where You Get The Pinks And Blues And Such...i Am Running 6x24w Ho T5s On My Cube

they are up very high

how do I find out the par for my bulbs, they are 10k blueline MH
from champian lighting

also what is the min. amount of time I should have the ligths on
now it is on 6 hrs a day

IMO the best bulb and ballast for 175's are Iwasaki with ARO electronic or EVC Tech electronic ballast. They produce 86.9 PPFD, thats right up there with a lot and beats a lot of 250W bulbs. For a reflector, the best ones you can get are either lumenarcs or lumen brights. I run 3x175W Iwasakis with ARO ballasts and Lumen Bright relfectors. The lumen brights direct ALL the light into the tank with no light spill. Here are a few pages of 175W results from sanjays light tests:

I just got my Nova extreme T5. It is 2x39w T5 HO 10000K daylight, 2x39w 460nm actinic, and 3 moon lights (white) My questions are do i run the daylight and actinic or alternating with some over lap. The lights are 24" off the bottom. What kind of corals can i keep, I know i want an open brain coral other than that i am open to input.

Sorry I meant for this to be a new thread

Not to hijack the thread but, I was considering getting the 175w 15000k Iwasaki. I’m currently running 2 on the old style magnetic ballasts (I think they are Advance).
From everything I read they will fire with those ballasts and the par is actually better then the electronic ballasts. Lee, do you know if they will work with magnetic ballasts?
