CandyCane 1 Hermit 0

Neat! I just looked in my tank this morning while the lights were off and noticed that my CandCane is eating a hermit who doesn't have a shell. I don't know why he's out of his shell or how he got 5" off the sandbed into the coral, but it looks pretty cool!

That's a molt. The hermit is fine and in his shell somewhere else in the tank.

Equally as interesting, I never thought that hermit crabs molted!

That's because the Candy Cane eats the molts before you find them! :lol2:

The molts look like the hermit died and lost it's shell. It's not as opaque as you'd expect.
