Soooo, I traded a LED fixture for an APEX and for the life of me I can't get this thing to connect. This is going on 4 hours now that I have been trying to get it to connect. The only way i can view anything is the
a> thing.

I am in IT and I will agree that its a pain in the *** to configure. Is everything working now?

The guide that elFloyd posted should have everything you need. When you say you can access it at 10.0.0.16 but no farther what do you mean?

I think the problem is I have an router upstairs with 3 computers running of it and i have a wire from that router running to my downstairs ( internet is upstairs ). This wire is then fed into another router and 3 more devices are fed off of it. I think the issue is when i look up my ip , it depends on what router you go through.

Yes that is definitely the problem. You need to disable DHCP on the second router and then you should be ok.

either way i have been messing with this since 7pm enough is enough. Oh and to top it all of when i the LCD screen for the APEX has about 8 lines of pixels missing dead center of the screen. Was like that when I got it but I didn't care since I THOUGHT i'd be using my tablet to control everything.

Edit: How do i disable DHCP

Edit: also when setting up the apex which is hooked to the 2nd router do i use the ip on router A ( upstairs ) or router B ( down stairs near tank ) ?

Any reason you went with another router downstairs rather than a switch? Switches are dirt cheap and generally plug and play.

Just an example:

Is your Apex set to a static IP address? That's the easiest way to go. Go into your routers, make sure only the upstairs one has DHCP enabled, and then set the DHCP range to something just large enough to accomadate your devices plus 5-10. For instance, your DHCP range might be set to 10.0.0.10-10.0.0.35. This would let you automatically assign IP addresses to 25 devices. Keep in mind this would be any phones that connect to your wifi, gaming consoles, computers, and anything else in your house that connects via wire OR wireless inlcuding friends when they come over and connect to your wifi. Then manually set your Apex's IP outside that range. Next step is to configure port forwarding in your router per the manual referenced above.

By the way, 10.0.0.* is the range that all of your other devices are on right? Since you got it second hand I want to make sure that your local network isn't 192.168.something while your Apex is configured to run on a completely different range.

And to give you hope I don't even have, or have ever had, an Apex head unit. I've always used my iMac, phone, or iPad.

My Apex is set to a static IP. The reason I went with a router over a switch is the router was the only thing I could find that would project Wi-Fi downstairs and it is close enough to my garage to be able to pick up the Wi-Fi signal there as well. Whats confusing me is if I look up whats my ip it gives me a 74 number but if I go in to router A ( The main router upstairs ) its a 74 number too but then I check router b and its a 192 number.

Edit: Also router A does not have a static IP address

ok... i'm stumped because I just installed an Apex and it worked perfectly on the network within 5 mins of plugging it in.

I'll be the issue is with the router...
I didn't read all the posts so pardon if this is redundant:

make sure you set up the network while the apex is directly wired to the modem before trying to go wireless.

install the app... search... open in browser... that should be it.

I have the apex hooked up to my router right now via wire. I don't have the option of hooking the apex into the modem being is upstairs.

You need to pick a router to be your "master" router. It hands out the static IP's and nothing else. Then, you need to set your "slave" router to extend your wireless netwrok rather than creating a new one. This might be called "bridge mode" on your router. Look into bridge mode first.

Please post the models of both routers. This would help us assist you.

Nah! Keep it public guys! J/k LOL! I went through the whole thread trying to learn more but then poing! Out of the post LOL!
