Carpet + Saltwater = Bad

I lost around 30 gallons on carpet...bissell sucked it all up...had a stain for a year or so...2 weeks ago my wife was making RO water and about 60 hours and 50 some gallons she flooded the room...(she was away that day)

Shop Vac and Bissell for hours...2 days later it dried...I carpet cleaned the rug and all the stains came out...I guess ALL the RO water disapated the stain...so soaking it good may be the answer

Wow, you only spilled 50 gallons in 60 hours? My unit will fill a 18g tub in just under 4 hours, I can't imagine what would happen if I forgot for a day!

The story is pretty darn funny looking back. I had the tank next to my cockatiel's cage. At night, I would cover the bird's cage with a light sheet, and to keep the cover from falling off, I'd put a heavy glass candle holder/paperweight on top. (Those brighter than me are beginning to figure this out.)

Well, in the middle of the night, the bird flipped out. We never found out why, but he was screaming like someone was pulling all his feathers out. So, my groggy but well-meaning husband jumps out of bed, runs to the room, and yanks off the bird cover....

... And, of course, the paperweight goes SMACK into the side of the tank, shattering the glass.

All I heard was the sickening "smack", a brief pause, and then "!@$#!"...followed by a "Honey, you should probably get up.", and more general cursing.

This was actually entertaining... lol that must of sucked though.

That was after it filled a 40 gallon brute lol

I've come to the conclusion that if you maintain a tank, water spills are par for the course. The only question is how much water and is it RO water or SW?

I've dumped probably 30 or 40 gallons of RO water before - forgot to turn of the RO water for a close to a day. That was a pain to clean up from.

Last week I noticed my quarantine tank was dropping water pretty fast. After I moved the fish I had in there to my display tank, I traced the issue to my HOB filter. It had started leaking SW onto my carpet. Probably around 8 or 10 gallons by the time I figured it out. Once again, pull up the carpet a bit and run the blower through it...

Just the fact that I now have a routine I follow is just sad. :lol2:

It did, it happened at like 3 am. We spent until almost 5 salvaging as much as we could in buckets and tubs and mopping up water.... And the next day was spent calling fish stores until we could find one with the right footprint to go on the stand lol.

It didn't do any permanent damage to the floor, though.
