Hey, I'm starting to think fish are the smartest things in the world! Im trying to catch a flame angel with a fish trap and definitely not working. Any tips? Thank you!

take out all your liverock and corals.. that's the easiest way to catch fish.. (even then it's not "easy")

of course I'm teasing..

I assume you tried food in the trap?

Catch them when they are sleeping. After the lights have been out for awhile...turn them on and grab your net. They will stumble out and are much easier to catch.

best way is to turn on lights early in am or middle of night. The will come stumbling out from the darkness. Netting them is easy if you go to them before they are awake. Its the best way to catch em. I tried traps but it was harder.

yeah I put food in the trap but it doesnt even get near.
Ill try the light method, but he usually stays in the rocks. Very fustrating ...

lol I have proven to myself, on many occasions, that I am not smarter than a fish.
Let us know if the light thing works for you.

Fish trap (2 lt. coke bottle) has worked every time for me. I only feed in the trap, when I trying to catch a fish, it has taken up to 4 days but it worked like a champ. I tied a fishing line to the end and learned from my potter's angel, I have to position the line on the bottom so it flips the trap up rapidly once he is in. Try pe mysis soaked in garlic too, they can't resist...patience and YANK HARD! hehehe. Oh, I melted a bunch of small holes with a soldering iron in it as well.

Hook and worm all ways works for me.Just kidding, please don't hook my Flame Angel.I cant wait till you get him but no big hurry.

I tried the two liter bottle trap for a couple days with no luck recently. Dem fishes is too smart. Maybe I should have tried it for longer.

All my fish go in and out like it's nothing except the one I'm trying to catch. Funny, maybe I send of a vibe or something? By the 4th day it's on every time.

I had a damsel I had to catch a couple months ago. I ended up having to take 80% of my rock out to get him...I hope I never have to catch another fish again...

Shrimp are worse. I remember trying to take my coral banded shrimp out absolute nightmare. Don't worry though patience is the key.

Well, I caught my peppermint shrimp and some hermits, but the fish are still steering clear of the trap. I guess I'll have to just wait and see.
