Has anyone done this? Wanted to remove my center brace so I can get a new custom sump in there. I have a 90 gallon rr tank. I have seen people do it on youtube without bracing it or anything. Is there much weight on it?

Any input would be helpful, thanks

It probably depends on how the stand was constructed. My 90 stand was build with a 2 x 4 frame and had a center brace. My 180 stand is built from 3/4" plywood and does not have a center brace.

I had the same issue with a 90 stand in the past.

I installed a temp brace off center, then removed the center brace... Put the sump in and reinstalled the main brace and removed the temp brace.

After all was done I said I probably could have done without the temp brace, but 90 gallons is a lot of water to clean up so better safe then sorry.

Mine was the standard black All Glass stand... I think it was pine

Thanks for the input, def going to have to do it if I want to upgrade. Well let you know how it goes.

Maybe it would be a safe guard to empty some of the water to remove a great deal of weight from the stand before cutting... better to be safe than looking like a mullet with 90g and livestock on the floor!
