It's a tough call. Some people really like it. I am not sure of the best "dip" or qt methods for chaeto. I'd mainly be worried about flatworms, red bugs, or aiptasia.
Well, dipping it means you'll kill the pods, and not dipping it means you run the risk of hitch hikers.
If you're not willing to risk hitch hikers, you're pretty much effectively stating you'll never own chaeto, as you just never know, coming from any source.
I'd personally risk it, but thats me... You'll need to decide for yourself
Always a risk but I got mine from an LFS that I trust. I am sure they would not have it for sale if they suspected any bad hitch hikers. Not all are that careful though so take that for what is is worth.
I looked it over real good. It's still in the bag (open for air) in my sump. Would I be able to SEE these critters Dylan mentioned if I left it as is for a week or so?
Thanks
You run just as much risk buying a piece of coral attached to a rock. Hitch hikers can be anywhere anytime. If concerned freshwater dip for a few min. It will kill majority of hitch hikers. Coral rx dip might help but not sure it has any ill effects on macro.
