Other than for a mandarin, is there any other reason why I might want to put chaeto into my sump 'fuge?

Are copepods beneficial to a tank without a mandarin in there? I ask because after researching the mandarin, my tank (65g) may not be suited for one after all. I'd hate to get one just to watch it be unhappy.

nutrient export would be the other driving factor. Pods will also feed your inverts, and fish will munch 'em too if they run across one.

Having pods in a system also adds biodiversity that will also be a benefit to corals.

The newly hatched pods oftentimes are small enough to be a very good food source for SPSs and LPS corals.

Lastly, depending on the species, they'll eat detritus and microalgae.
