I must admit I'm a lil, scared of chalupra. I've heard good and bad. And I'm not so sure my experience level (or my wallet) is good enough to deal with the bad, lol I'll have to study up more on it first. But thanks

Chalupra is a really good macro algae to go with in that it SOAKS up nitrates/ phosphates and it is very hardy. Chalupra gets a bad rap because it has been reported to go into a sexual that will cloud up the water; however, that phase is triggered by the day and night cycle... if you leave your refugium lights on 24/7 it will never go sexual.
Chaeto works for a lot of people, but I just did not have that great of results with it. The paticular sump that I use did not have a ton of flow in the refugium area and it never really grew for me. As I understand it, the Chaeto colony needs to be able "tumble" or rotate within the sump to really be happy. If your refugium has a decent amount of flow, it may work better for you though.
