So I have a bad habit of not looking at every detail of a fish when I decide to buy one. Today I got a pair of clarki clowns and one of then looks disfigured. His mouth looks like it was pushed to the side. He swims fine but has anyone ever had a fish that looked like that? And if it lived long?

lots of clowns will fight growing up and will disfigure themselves. I've noticed it most in the maroons, but all clowns fight and will lock jaws. If he eats, he could live a full life. A fat clown is a healthy clown.

My clarkii had a very rough acclimation when her tank failed and I put her in the 120 with two false percs. Her eye got disfigured pretty bad. Granted it's only been two months but her eye looks so much better now and she has her side of the tank. If the wound has healed then your fish will probably do just fine. If it's a recent wound then you'll have to watch it for infection.

i bought 2 black and white clowns when they were like 1/4" long. they were best friends, but once maturity kicked it they started brawling. the female has ripped a chunk of the males jaw off. im not sure when this happen, as he appears to be fine and eats like normal. but his face is pretty severely disfigured. ive debated on selling them to get some other clowns, but homeys face is so tore up, i doubt anyone would want him

Wow so many clowns with disfigured faces. I am going to keep mines really don't want to get rid of him because he is disfigured. He looks like he could be a mobster with his mouth be pushed to the side.
