Chapter 3: 150g SCA Tank

Do you just dump the crashed culture? Or can you add some f2 and bring it back to life?
I have had a crashed culture make a come back. I was lazy and left it and after 2-3 days it just started coloring up. I dont think adding more f2 would help tho. It didnt grow long enough to use what you initially started with

I tried with no success after the scenario mentioned.
A while ago, I turned off the light and pump on a nanno culture when I moved my fish room. About 3 months later, the water was clear with green sediment at the bottom. I managed to resurrect this culture fairly easily.

Day 7…
Green stuff made it. Gold did not although there is some color on the bottom. How do you know when to harvest?

Thin and still only eating blackworms…
If you can start a White worm culture.

If you don't have the time or space come on over to my house this weekend and help me get a minifridge setup with a temp controller and I'll order a culture or two to get started. Within a few weeks you'll have plenty of food to fatten them up.

Yeh just let me know when this weekend...I need to pick your brain about equipment and look at your set up again too.

As far as this stupid fish, I am almost ready to flush it down the toilet, lol. I have no desire to start any worm cultures.
I'm thinking after this batch of blackworms gets exhausted I'm just going to put the China into the big tank and let him fend for himself...as I broadcast feed more in the big tank.
That or give him to a local buddy to see if he can get it eating because I am failing miserably at it.

haven't seen you post any pics of the china's so went out to liveaquaria to look, beautiful fish but it says expert only mature aquarium so that leaves me out :)
Says they should eat frozen mysis though

They're so pretty...hands down the most beautiful fish in my collection. But as with everything else - beauty comes with a steep price.
My fish photo taking skills are very bad. Its ridiculously difficult to get good photos.

What all have you tried feeding?

Everything. Including the kitchen sink

Have you tried mixing the Black worms with mysis? Maybe even put some Selcon in with that mix. Start heavy on the Black worm to mysis ratio and slowly cut back on the worms. That would be the best way to get in transitioned over to mysis. Also the Hikari frozen mysis is usually smaller shrimps compared to PE and SF brands. Rit usually has the sheet and cubes, Nemo can be hit or miss with it.

After that it'd be the White worms. Even with them I'd start with a mix. The difference is the White worms will be alive and moving.
