I bought a 1/2 hp chiller for my 250. What water flow rate pump should I get? It came with no instrucions. Also if i hook it up to my controller, should the water pump stay on all the time and I just plug the chiiler into controller outlet so it shuts on and off by the controller

Each brand has its own recommended flow rates. Having said that for a 1/2 chiller i'd say somewhere in the 500-1200 gph range. So a mag 7-9.5 should be fine.

What type of chiller do you have? I haven't decided yet but I may have to get one soon. My tank temp has topped off around 79 so far and we're not quite far into summer yet. I'm particularly interested in the following observations:

1. Foot print (dimensions).
2. Manufacturer, model
3. Noise level
4. How long does it stay on?

Thanks....

most of the time flow rate isnt a issue for chillers. As long as you stay above 300ish GPM(to keep the coil from getting too cold) youre fine.

Higher flow rates wont cool the water itself(coming out of the chiller) down as much but the overall heat removed from the water is the same no matter what the flow rate.

Most people just put the full return flow through it.

The chiller i have is a seaclear i bought it from an ARC member. My tank gets up to 82 degress. I was using a fan but that was not enough. I went by deep blue today and he said use a mag 7 pump.
