Chiller Question

I was looking at replacing my chiller the other day... and the

PACIFIC COAST CL-280 (1/10hp) chiller requires between 500gph-800gph...

isn't that a TON of flow for a 1/10 chiller? (seems like too much flow, IMO)

what do y'all know about Pacific Coast chillers (as opposed to Current USA, or JBJ, or EcoPlus)... ?

That seems super high rate. JBJ suggests around 240 gph for my 1/10 up. But I don't know much about chillers. Still though that seems crazy high. The chiller would almost have to be at some ridiculous temp to cool water moving that fast thru it. IMO.

Last summer I had a JBJ 1/15 HP chiller inside my cabinet and it worked, but I had to add vents and fans to move air through the cabinet. I found that two 3.5" computer fans run at 8v instead of 12v worked well and were quiet enough. I put the fans right next to the chiller and had them blowing out of the cabinet. I put another vent on the opposite side of the cabinet to allow air to flow in.

My MJ 1200 works perfectly and like I said, the chiller never kicks on for long. I wanted to plumb directly to the DT to make sure the cool water was making its way in, works perfectly. It is a PITA to use the accessory kit and plumb to the DT, but I made it work....with the use of a lot of 4-letter words. I researched it before I made my decision, and the consensus was to plumb to the DT. If you have any questions about how I made it happen, let me know.

Ok... So I connected my chiller to the stock return pump of the RSM 250 and removed the MJ 1200 I had in the column... WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!!! The temp has not moved in 20 minutes and the chiller has not come on yet!!!!! THis is THE WAY to do it... THANKS Ruadh!!!! I am going to reduce heat and power usage by a lot! Awesome advice.. much love...
