clam is diying?

Sorry to say, but it's most likely a goner. I've seen some bounce backs, but only if water is tip top condition. Have you changed anything with your tank...added any chemicals?

did a water change thats all with ro/di water and the same salt as always

Mine did the same thing...seemed ok and then BAM - I woke up one morining to a clean white clam shell!

Look closely at the foot/base of the clam....without moving it (maybe look through tank if you can) do you see any tiny snails there? And curiosity...in the first pic you can see better...those reddish/orange dots on the rock, do you have flatworms? The algae on the clam shell...does it appear to be inside the shell? That could be an irritant to the clam.

It does happen...I have 6 clams in my tank...kept them for years. One died on me the other day. No signs of anything with the other clams.

ther is a vere small red worm about a mm long on the bottom of it

It looks like you have Flatworms. If something causes the flatworms to die off quickly they will poison your tank.

It looks like you have red planaria, but they really shouldn't bother the clam unless you have a massive die off.

Is that aiptasia I see also? If so, they can sting the clam if they're growing around the foot of the clam.

If not, I'd look at the water chemistry and lighting.

Unfortunately, clams seem to be one of those reef inhabitants that once it shows sign of a failure to thrive, it's also usually too late to do anything.......

Sorry for your loss, consider not replacing it immediately or atleast until you can better pin point what happened to this one....

I've personally had a clam that was extended well and looked great one day, and an empty white shell the next....... It's very disheartening when you're not certain what went wrong.....

I just retired my now 8" Vietnamese Teardrop Maxima to the backyard so I feel your pain. Tank full of clams and I've known this one had issues from the start so not a suprise (it was gaping when I got it but lived a year in my tank and grew better than 3"). Clams are just touch and go sometimes. But the one in the picture is gone sad to say. As long as it maintains attachment you might leave it but if the foot has loosened it's 100% gone. Even in the first pic it's showing signs of unhappiness. That macro hanging in the rear of the shell would certainly irritate it.....but I don't think it would have killed it unless it was impeding on one of the siphons.

no aiptasia just hair alge. it had some Hydroids i think but not sure when i was getting them off i saw some small fast moving snals under a magnifer
