Cleaning Glass

What do you use to keep the glass clean without scratching it? I've been using a mag float daily and then a scourpad to wipe the glass once every two weeks but I still end up scratching the tank glass here and there.

Any advice would be appreciated.

A razor works well. There are all kinds of instruments available to put the blade in if you are afraid it will cut you. They even make an attachment for your magfloat that you can put a razor in. Works great!

Just becareful with the razor. I had become overzealous yeasr ago cleaning the algae close to the silicone bead, and wound-up cutting under the bead. I was lucky that I nevre experienced a leak.

Do you mean for algae removal, or scratch removal? Is it safe to use with livestock? Didn't know there was such a thing! Tell us more!

Safe as can be with water in the tank.. Won't remove scratches.. But will clean the glass really good.. Even takes off coralline..

Magic eraser will also smooth out the rough edges on scratches in acrylic tanks, making them less noticeable over time. Just make sure you get the Magic Eraser Original without additives. The original is an extruded plastic foam, like Cliff said.

Thanks for all the responses...looks like i'll be trying out the Magic Eraser during my next cleaning!

With so much to look at in the tank my eyes only seem to focus on the hairline scratch that caught my eye after the last cleaning...will have to be more careful.
