Clown breeding Journal.

Typically filtration is not required for the larvae tank. I would keep the water "green" with phytoplankton and feed rotifers, with a gentle air bubble that keeps the water in motion but is not too strong to keep the larvae in motion. I watch for ammonia spikes and do daily water changes to keep the ammonia level down until the larvae go through meta and start to "look like" clowns. At that point they should be eating newly hatched brine shrimp and dry powdered food. After a week or so on the new food it is probably safe to move them to a grow out tank (i used 10G) and add the sponge filter. Still have to watch for ammonia and do water changes. Hope that helps!

ok. I just took out the sponge filter and put in a air stone. Its really cool to see them dart around eating food. And i think Im going to have another batch in 2-3 days. But sense the anemone died they have been cleaning a new spot.

I need to thank itskris, and surfdude for supplying me with rotifers and phytoplankton and anyone else that gave me info about breeding clowns. Ive met some very nice and helpful people on this fourm and hope to meet more.

And here is a picture of my setup... Just thoought i would share.

Ok. Ill try. The tank is a little merky with the greenwater lol.

So I couldn't really take a pic because they swim around to much so I just took a video. And sorry for the reflections and the bad quality.

Super great. Following, as I have some clowns I hope become a mated pair eventually.

Keep it up! We all learned through experience and each effort we get further. Keeping a dozen going is a great start.

Well now that I actually know what to do... its not that hard to do at all LOL. But then again this is only my first batch.

So here is a quick update if anyone is interested -

Well I am down to 4 fry. I ended up going on a camping trip and staid a lot longer than planned.
BUT The parents laid again! On Easter day. Such a surprise. Ill try to get some pics up of the fry and the clutch of eggs later.

AND happy Easter everyone!!!

Thanks for the update. Do you remember about how long it took for them to start laying?

Well I bought them as a sppawning pair but after I bought them it took exactly a year to start laying. But it's suppose to be harder to get type of clowns to lay eggs.

Yes. They are starting to show some yellow but it's hard to see.
