I have never had a clown jump... until last night.

I was walking upstairs to my unit and telling my friend how I was unjustly paranoid about random freak things that can go wrong in the tank (leaks, overflows, etc.). The lights are off in the tank and as I am walking to the other side of the condo, I was like eh, I will check on the tank real fast (since I am always paranoid). I come in the room and immediately only see one clown and get worried. Look down at the floor, and sure enough... momma is laying on the floor motionless.

I start to get upset and get a papertowel to pick him up and all of a sudden my friend yells and said he moved. I run into the room and throw him back in the tank and she looks to be in total shock but starts swimming around.

This morning I woke and she is acting like nothing ever happend! Already eating just fine and swimming all around.

This was absolutely crazy. I wonder how long she was out on the floor... let alone survived jumping 4 feet onto a hardwood floor.

Love my mesh top, main reason was because while they might not voluntarily jump there are other inhabitants with other habits; which sometimes leads to fish darting and ending up on the floor.

I've had a clown jump also. Walked by the tank at night with the lights off and heard a splash, then something banging around. I looked in the tank and couldn't find the female clown. She started moving around again and I found her behind the stand on the floor. I picked her up and put her back in the tank. This was about 2 years ago, she's still alive and healthy today! Its crazy that they can survive a 5' leap of death.

Unless she is like a cat/dog, the only thing I can think of is there was lightening outside pretty close to the tank. (I find this to be a little funny if true)

I checked the tank parameters and everything was great. The only other things in the tank is a small male clown and a big carpet anemone, so I'm not sure anything inside the tank scared her.

It makes me want a mesh top.... but ugggggh

ive lost a clown over the back wall of my nano cube, ive made a fish guard since then

yep, love my mesh tops also, first thing i built before i added fish to my tank!! i used the clear mesh 1/4 " screen.

bpatterson pm acroholic. He sells the good stuff. (sounds like he ought to be in a back alley with a trench coat on.) LOL

Pure reef had the screen in stock about 2-3 weeks ago, Jorge said he would make tops to customer spec too.

Here's his detailed thread.

FYI he doesn't sell any of this, rather explains how to build and where to buy.
