Clowns are terrorizing purple tang?

So, I have been delaying posting this it seems kind of silly. I introduced a 4" purple tang a little over a month ago. As soon as I put him in, my small(-2") clown pair went crazy. They have never left their spot by more than a few inches and now they are swimming all over the tank like they own the place. I've never had any aggression from them with any other fish. It is a 72 gallon bow-front with 150+ of LR. It has plenty of hiding spots and they definitely have their own little spot with a big head of frogspawn and and another colony of hammer.
The purple tries not to acknowledge them but it's fairly constant. They have even torn his tail and fins a few times. I have tried all the same tricks, pics of purple tangs, lights out, disrupting the rockscape. Nothing seems to help and I really would love to have my serenity back in my community tank.
Any other suggestions folks?
Thanks,
Randy

I have never seen any aggression from them before. This not the first tang. I had a sail fin for awhile. I also had a regal. There are many other fish, everybody else is is fine. FWIW, I know of the difficulties with tangs and small foot prints. I thought my 210 gal would be running by now, didn't happen yet. I sold the others awhile back and they lived in different tanks. One tang in a four foot tank is tight but he seems fine, eats, gets along with his brethren...

That makes sense, I was worried about his aggressions more than anything else. Of course he could be mouthing off to them and I would have no idea..I swear they have the weirdest communication thing. I can't think of anything else, guess I'll have to get him out of there, huh? Dang it...I need a algae grazer in there. I may have to get a Tommini or Scopas...

Errr, I have a pearly jaw fish and a Tangora Goby. Any idea if they would get along? Maybe? Possibly?

After you add the gobies, just make sure to have mesh tops or the initial aggression between em will give you some crispy critter floor ornaments.
