I got a new pair of oxy clowns is there something I can do to get them to host it. R there any tricks any help would be appreciated

Tagging along. I have been waiting 6 months for a Picasso and onyx to host a nice sized rbta. The most I can do now is to feed elos pellets directly over the rbta to entice all the fish to go around the rbta to feed. Whatever pellets aren't consumed by the fish wind up in the rbta. I have seen the clowns look at the food in the rbta but I haven't seen them go into the rbta to get it yet.

float the nem and clowns in a basket and they will go in once they know what is going on. that's what ive always done to get clowns to host. or just put them in a small tank with just that. I did it with a 8 gallon nano cube one nem and 2 clowns 1 piece of LR the nem was stuck on. 2 weeks later they were in the nem

I had luck with floating them together when I brought them home. I also had luck with something really weird, but clowns are weird too! I had a very small flashlight that had a red laser pointer on it, not strong at all. My clowns like to chase it around like cats do. I just had the one I was having trouble getting near my rbta follow the pointer around and then I "brought" it to my rbta. Now both of my clowns have a nem. Go figure!

I've had good success putting new clowns in with my older clowns that are hosting. It will follow along within a few days and start to host as well.

I'm open to ideas also. Does it seem cruel to force the clowns in a nem? Like the basket method?

in a way I guess you are forcing them to host the nem but its not going to be a very small basket with a huge nem in it. just what you see in some store they have that black basket with the nem in one cornor and the clowns normally srat on the other side when you feed and the clowns go for the food they sometimes hit the nem and realize what it is? I don't know if it is considered cruel but usually works.

If the clowns are already hosting a specific area of the tank, move the anenome over to them. My clowns were hosting the right-side, back corner of my tank, and my anenome was in the middle of the tank. They stayed separated for months. After a while, I moved the rock that the anenome was on over to the corner where the clowns were, and within 1 hour, they were all joined at the hip. Only thing was that the anenome didn't like the corner, so it moved. The good thing is that the clowns moved with it back to the center of the tank.

Best of luck!!!
