I will make no secret of my complete and utter, undying dislike of the things. I get they are a natural part of the system, and I'm willing to tolerate them as long as they stay scarce.

But... I had a parasitology class back when I was in school for Biology/Ecology, and bristleworms have always reminded me too much of helminths for my comfort. I don't know why, exactly. There's no morphological comparison aside from both being annelids, but... yuck. I just find the things revolting. And I say that as someone who has bagged up many dead, maggot-ridden birds to send to CDC back in the day for W. Nile testing, among some of the other generally gross stuff one deals with as both a falconer and animal rehabber. There's just something off-putting about bristleworms in my aquarium, and I'd be just as happy for other critters to do the same job (even tho nothing else does it quite as well, admittedly).

I completely agree! I know they do a good job but I hate them quite a bit! I donโ€™t get grossed out but I am SO allergic to them!
