I’ve been inspired by all the success stories in this section. For those who’ve successfully bred clownfish, what strategies do you use to condition pairs for spawning? What sort of diet and feeding schedule helps encourage spawning behavior? How do you optimize tank environment and water parameters to induce spawning? Once eggs are laid, do you remove them to a separate rearing tank or let the parents care for them? I’m hoping to attempt breeding my ocellaris pair and would love to hear any tips or lessons learned from folks who have done this successfully.

As far as getting clownfish to lay, I have had the best luck with keeping hands out of tank, feeding well, and keeping params stable. Usually after 2-3 weeks of autopilot the clowns will lay. If I do so much as clean the glass, they will not lay anything. I never tried raising the clowns, but I knew someone who has, and its quite a bit of maintenance to properly raise the fry. They will Dirty the water very quickly due to how much food they need. Good luck and if you do start the process you should start a thread to show the day by day. Super interesting to see.
