Contiunuum Iodide compounds

Ok, so I am looking into purchasing some Iodide compounds. Ive done some research on them and I am having some trouble understanding the difference between the three.

There is the:

Reef•Basis Iodide.
Reef•Basis Sustain Iodine
-AND-
Reef•Basis Lugol's EX

So I know the Reef•Basis Lugol's EX is very strong and why would you need is super strong? Is there a specific type of coral that needs a strong dose?

The description on all three say the same thing. Which says "supplement designed to nourish organisms that require iodine. It is particularly useful for xenia and soft corals of all kinds. Growth rates in xenia and gorgonians will likely improve with its use. It helps all corals and clams retain their coloration and open more fully under "

So what is the difference?? :huh:

Are you testing for iodide/iodine? If you aren't testing, I'd be pretty reluctant to add any iodine.

I have not tested for it actually. Im taking water into my work today to test everything

I've read on many sites to never dose without measuring but I think there are some exceptions. I look at it like taking vitamins/medicine when I feel bad but never measure for any of that stuff in my body.

I've been keeping softies for almost ten years and I do use Iodide when ever I see a need for it. (When I notice Softies getting "droopy"). Note: I have never dosed it on a weekly/monthly basis and when I stay consistent on my water changes I never see the need to dose.

had a LFS tell me if you have softies such as leathers depending on the amount you can dose about 1ml a month without testing but he strongly said you should test before you dose. i use seachem test and dose

I will definitely check my water tomorrow but I am still wondering what is the difference between the iodide compounds.
