Controller Time

I'm with Dave! Trying to get my Net Module to work over the Internet was outside my expertise to setup. Gave up after finding out they have about as much customer service as a Rock Company based out of India!
Dave hit all of the points spot on!
The email alert issue annoys me to no end. I should get 1 alarm saying the unit is in alarm for X. Instead I wake up to 100+emails sometimes, all for the same alarm! :(

The Apex lite is $370 and it does come with the NET function but does not come with a pH probe.

I got my Apex lite through a sponsor, Aquarium Specialty, and it can with one pH probe but not the second one. Which it would have been nice for when I upgraded to a Calcium Reactor.

Started setting it up around 1 o'clock today. I just got done about an hour ago.
Lessons learned .........don't ever buy a Buffalo wireless product. Lock up all firearms when networking Buffalo products. Don't let the price tag scare you away from a controller....these things are awesome.

Ha!
That's about what I thought.
I got my hardware and basic setup completed in short order.
It was/is the tinkering with it that is an on going process.

In fact, about two weeks ago I thought that I had everything configured just as I wanted it to be then we added a chiller and I had to toss out the old configuration and create a new one. Now I'm thinking of changing it again. But that's the fun part IMO.

The company has done zero Reefkeeper product development for the last 4 years or so. They came out with a salinity probe that was a complete failure, were supposed to correct it and replace their first try defective probes with their second try, and never came out with it. Their SL2 module has been riddled with issues and was supposed to be replaced with a second version, which has failed to appear for about three+ years and counting.

If you have a problem, you have to basically self diagnose by asking for help here or on Reef Central, or the DA online website.

Oh wait, they did release a new product a few months ago, the Reefkeeper Elite Titanium Edition, which is a RKE with a white backlit display......big whoop. How about taking care of the hundreds of poor customers with non working SL1 modules and defective salinity probes?

Sorry if I sound sarcastic. I own and use two RKE systems, and one RKL system, and they are dependable, but I am too invested monetarily in the product to go Apex, but if I were able to do it over again, I would have an Apex system. Digital Aquatics has sh*t for customer service.

I hear ya on the customer service, that is usually a big selling point for me. I guess I never really looked into that simply because my RK Lite didn't have any issues, luckily. I'm about to set back up my tank and went with the Elite Titanium version, crossing my fingers in hopes I'm as lucky the second time around.

Want a controller one of these days and have been watching threads so I was was prepared when the time came. I had made up my mind that with all things equal I would go Apex if possible but would take a RKE as an acceptable alternative. A big part of my decision was based on the fact I knew you and other respected reefers used DA. Now that I see this post I am second guessing that.

As Dave mentioned, they work okay... Not mentioning the SL2 and Sg probe. The basic controller and basic functions work without an issue.
Primary problem is as Dave brought up, customer service, and stale development!
