I can speak to the following
I have had ReefKeeper Lite
I recently switched to Apex Lite
of the 2 I like the APEX Lite more

I'm biased as I run an Apex. That being said, the reef angel looks somewhat tempting though. I'm pretty sure Kirkwood has been running one for a while, maybe he'll chime in. I've never been too impressed with the reef keeper. Just one guys opinion.

Make that 2 guys' opinions lol.

My two cents... and for full disclosure I use an Apex.

1) From what I've read... the Apex is more advanced than the Reef Keeper. Apex keeps evolving whereas the Reef Keeper hasn't changed/offered much new over the past few years.
2) The Reef Angel does look tempting. I believe you can do more programming than with the Apex... so in theory it can do more "stuff". However, you need a higher lever of programming skills with the RA than is needed for the Apex.

I'm about to get a typhoon led controller with the laser cut enclosure hopefully it's a good one bc I'm pretty excited about it!

Care to feel me in as why?

Why I didn't care for the reef keeper? Build quality seemed better with the apex to me. That along with the peripherals offered, as El Floyd mentioned.

I am happy with my Apex and looking forward to the new software that they will be releasing sometime soon. Just ordered the WXM module now that it can control the EcoTech Radion lights.

Another Apex fan. I never had another brand controller but the out of the box net capability is what I wanted. I travel for work so being able to see my temp while I was away and cut anything need off is pretty awesome. I can remote access using any desktop/internet connection and I have the app for my iPhone. The software can be challenging to setup and use but I think that's part of the fun :D I actually just installed and calibrated my new pH probe I got for Christmas and cannot stop checking it on my phone lol. The new software update looks like it's going to be pretty awesome too. I also plan on expanding my modules, especially with the new water detection module.

+1 on the Apex.

Much better support and software, and way more flexible.

While the hardware is good, and effective, the software for the Reef Keeper is junk, with little to no updates.

If you get the Reef Keeper, just plan on using the display to program. You will need a few beers for this process.:confused2:

So I take it you have had both?

Yeah, had the Reef Keeper on my Nano at the office. My first controller was an Apex Jr. for my display tank at home, have been running it since day one and love it. Thought that I would give the Reef Keeper a shot when I setup my nano tank at work... I now am running a full apex at work, but plan on switching it out for my Apex Jr. when I get my newly acquired 150 up and going at home.

Not sure about the Reef Angel, but I have heard they require more programming knowledge, but I believe they are a bit more flexible in their programming than the Apex, especially the Reef Keeper.

From $120 to $200 for a basic setup with just a temp probe, then up from there depending on what you want to control and monitor. Looking back, I wish I had gotten the Apex lite instead of the Jr. You are limited in the number of modules you can add.

I do not have any programming knowledge and use my Reef Angel. Anything advanced I have wanted to do I have been able to get help with from the the reef Angel forums. It pretty much becomes a copy/paste deal.
