Converting Molly's to eat hair algae.

Nitrites are 0, Nitrates are 0, the ammonia is 0 , PH is 8.2. I just replaced the lights about 2 months ago and it runs for about 8 hours a day. I feed the fish 1 time a day with a pinch of pellet food and a frozen cube of mysis shrimp once a week. I feed the coral phytoplankton once every week and I guess it would be a teaspoon of it. And the sea slug we got go rid of the hair algae and then I gave It to a friend. Then about 1 month later we saw some a little hair algae and since then it's came back a lot.

Edit: Oh and about the TDS. I guess I'll get a tester off amazon.

Your parameters are not "fine" or "good". They are number values which might be </em>good depending what those numbers read. Objective vs. subjective, ****it.

Oh yes.. I guess we did get off topic. And just wanted to say. The Molly's and fat and healthy. I've added almost half a gallon of saltwater. They are doing great. They should be converted in about 3 days... I'm going kind of fast on this.

It's only a 2.5 gallon they will be going into a 92 gallon. I had 2 gallon of freshwater in the tank when I put them in. The tank is pretty much full so I need to do a small water change.

I've acclimated mollies from fw to sw before. Only took an hour or two and they did fine. No need to spend so much time. Just my two cents.

I dropped 4 in mine last year straight from fresh to salt didn't lose any. Eat great.

Update:

I drip aclimated them after they where on brackish water. And now they are in my tank. I do admit they don't like the flow and have a hard time swimming but they will go in the rocks very now and then. My other fish don't seem to bother them.

Try cutting out the phytoplankton for a couple of months, I suspect that might be fueling the algae.

What measures besides water changes are you employing? Are you scrubbing it out? Sometimes it can take several tear-downs, and scrubbing each rock and giving it a swirly in saltwater, outside of the tank, to knock off the loosened algae and detritus, and then re-aquascaping the tank. Sometimes you have to do it 3 or 4 times to get the upper hand, whilst addressing the food source.

Algae need food and light - you can't go without light for the corals' sake but make sure your photoperiod is no more than 10 hours a day (you can cut to as little as 4-6 if you need to) and make sure there's no surplus of uneaten food or excess waste. Garbage in = garbage out. If the garbage isn't exported out through water changes, it will convert to algae, which take up that garbage. Manual removal of the algae, and cutting back the nutrients available to it, and some patience and elbow grease, you'll get ahead of it.

Well we moved and just got the tank fully moved in about 1 month ago. And that's whne the algae started. I'm going to my lfs tomorrow or wensday to get the water tested to make sure I didn't mess up on testing it. I just have a weird feeling about the lights..

So I guess I have good and bad news..? The yellow molly is NOWHERE no be seen. I looked everywhere but the overflow so it could of jumped in there no tuneless it's in the rocks. They usually stay in the corner during the day and come out at night. They do pickn at the rocks but they don't eat it by the rock. They will go around just picking it off different areas. I think that these are great fish espically if your in a budget. If you have a minor algae problem these would be good but these are definitely not long term. And also if you have a high flow in your tank DO NOT TRY to put there in your tank. They are very slow swimmers.
