Ok I have PC lights so I did not think this would be much of an issue but apparently I was wrong. I have a 75G main tank and a 20G fuge and the temp is above 80. Is there an economical way to decrease the temp a bit? will putting fans in the canopy and one blowing over the fuge lower the temp??

The fans will help a lot. I bought a cheap clip on from Kroger and it does a great job keeping things cool.

With summer approaching, the auto parts stores should start having the fans with the plastic clamps for around $10. They come with a 12v cig lighter attachment, could just get a converter (I know I have them sitting around) and wire it up to a controller to come on at preset temp points.

For about $5 more you can pickup a stronger AC fan at Walmart/HD/Lowes and at the same price if you really shop sales or find one at the super discount Lot places. Most of the cheaper ones are either heavily plastic (blade most important) or plastic coated metal.

If you have a heater, why would one need to turn the fans off? Not being a wisegu; I really want to know.

The other idea which may help a bit is to postpone the photo period. For example, instead of 2pm to 10pm; make it 4 to midnight.

Hey Tony,
By that logic we could also always leave the emergency brake on - if we wanna drive faster we just press the gas harder.

The fan and heater would "battle" each other...

Doesn't the heater battle the ambient temperature all the time? It may take the fans longer to get the temp down to 78 or so. I see your logic. Enough said. Thank you.

google computer smart fans. They have built in temp sensors that vary the speed of the fan according to the temp in the hood. Ice cap makes some but they are pricey.
