Im looking to set up a new sump with a refugium pretty soon. Id like to buy some pods to help populate the refugium/tank...

What is a good place to get them from (price/quantity ratio)?

I really trust this website, and all of its information!

I've bought tiger pods locally in a bottle but if your looking to just populate, you may find a member who has some cheato that has pods in it. That's worked for me before and they are still going strong.

A few sponsor stores sell live copepods... Pure Reef does, and Aquariumsmith nee</em> Keen Reef used to (but that may not be the case since the move).

buy a couple of bottles of Tigger Pods locally and use them. Some PhytoFeast will help as well IMHO.

And in my experience, it takes about 4 months to see them really populate down in a sump.

Since we are on the subject...

Do you have to feed them or should a healthy tank keep them fed? I have a fuge that was heavily populated with pods and bristle worms and they have slowly disipated. I don't have any mandarins or anything so I would think they would be self sustaining.

Anyway, I still see a few in the cheato in the fuge as well as the overflow, just not as many as before. As long as I see some am I OK that they will keep reproducing or do I need to add something to my process?

Pods got millions will donate to the cause. I may be missing something. Maby it's a specialty pod? Other wise pretty much every one posting on here has a ton I'm sure. Less u got a mandrin

I did have quite a few until I ran into a problem and treated the tank with prazi-pro. my QT tank wasnt set up at the time so I regretfully decided to treat the display. It seemed to kill all my bio-filter and I was having problems with ammonia. Ive since put new live sand in the tank and Im trying to build my live stuff back...

Well someone n your neck of the woods should of steped up by know instead of making you pay for it. That's like asking for some coraline scrapings or a small scoop of sand to seed your tank. That's what arc is all about helping the fellow reefer I'm sure someone closet to you will help out soon

I have tons of them in my 120g that I broke down a few weeks ago that is still running with just water and sand. If you can find a way to fish them out then by all means, have at it!

ummm.. your guess is as good as mine. Only thing I can think of is putting a razor up and siding it under them and getting them onto the razor. But I have an acrylic tank and that will be kinda tricking with a razor. I never new I had so much until today. I took a close look at my tank and they were all over the place!!
