I noticed some foods on my lfs shelf. It is called zoo blast by continuum aquatics. They also have photo blast but I didn't get that one. It's says for sps lps and softies. So I figured I give it a try. I am dosing it according to the label. Well I'm actually only dosing for a 50 gallon tank instead of 130 plus that I have.... I didn't k ow if it was a good thing but it was recommended by my friend whose been doing a while. And the store uses it and their corals are nice... but does anyone have any thoughts about this.... is there something better??? My coral beauty and blenny e's seem to like it as well. And my bangi cardinals who wouldn't eat anything but copepods are going nuts for this. So if it's not benificial for corals at least my fish like it. Lol but as for corals at the moment I have pulsating xenia, zoas, a Kenya tree, (eh in the last week has doubled in size), a plate coral, some candy cane, and a frog spawn (who has also doubled in size). Oh and of course my red and blue mushrooms. (Who pop out new polyps daily..... my curly q anemone also seems to enjoy the zoo blast. So it's getting eaten but is it good for corals or am I waiting money on unnecessary foods that I could do something cheaper????

I do not know what is in zoo blast or phyto blast but I assume some sore of zooplankton and phytoplankton. Yep fine to feed your corals and fish it every once in a while. I would not go overboard and feed twice a day and I would not use too much. It would also usually be most benificial to feed this about an hour or two after your lights go out. This is when your frogspawn, Candy Cane, and plate coral are feeding. I usually turn off most of the flow in the tank a spot feed from a turkey baster or a old-school ketchup bottle. Just slowly squirt across the feeder tentacles that should be out at night.

If your tank responds well then whos to say its a waste?

I use a combo of things... I would just add it to your arsenal and mix things up every other feeding.

If your tank likes it-use it!

Ok cool. Yea since I've been using it I have gotten good responses. Yes the zoo blast is zoo plankton, marine protien complex, marine fatty acid complex, blended amino acids, ascorbic acid, vitamin complex. Everything seems to like it. The zoas and frogspawn get it when lights out, but my blue mushrooms and plate coral catch it when the lights are on. The Kenya tree too. They have their feeder tentacles out during the day... so i know they are eating it. I think that's why my Kenya tree has all of a sudden opened back up and it 2 times what it was. The plate coral is also bigger than when I got it.

I kinda thought that. That's why I does ed for a 50 gallon not a 130 gallon. And I only do it 2 times a week. The bottle recommends 3 to 4 times but I don't want to over do it. Even if my fish are eacting is as well. I don't want to make any mistakes. Lol

I use the reef chili from BRS and all corals seem to like it a lot! I feed about once every 3 days!

You can get by without using coral food as well. I use some about once a week if that. I will feed my duncan tho
