Coral ID Please

This was given to me a while back and I have no idea what it is (and can't remember who gave it to me). Can anyone tell me what it is? I love this thing. It has trippled in size in a couple months.

Looks like The encrusted base of an acro.

Possibly a Turbinaria (cup coral) species of some sort. Do those polyps extend out more than that, Rich?

They extend just a tad more at times and open just a bit. If you look close at the pic, there is a nickle sized portion in the center. That was the original frag. Everything around it has grown in a couple months time.

Good call, now that I look at it a bit harder, it could go either way, but maybe a bit heavier on the turbinaria

Did a search of images and while there were no exact matches there were several that were pretty close. I think you are correct. The one from Live Aquaria was the closest match and in the discription is says the care level is dificult. So I guess I am doing something right. LOL

I think it was one of the ones you gave me Kris. I love this thing. Not sure why but it just think it is cool. And yes, it has exploded in my tank. Especially since going to LEDs.

I had it for months and got no growth. Never found out what it was either. Way to go green finger!

Not sure I can take credit for the growth. LOL I think it is the LED lights. I have it up high in the tank.
