Hello all,

I'm new to the ARC, just joined about a week ago.

I picked up a piece of coral for $10, I had thought it was a small alveopora. I dose DT's every other day with the pumps off, and have soft coral, sps, and lps all doing well in this tank.

After looking more closely, I can count only 8 tentacles at the end of each polyp, not the 12 of alveopora or the 24 of goniopora.

When disturbed, all the polyps retract into the skeleton, and it looks like a smooth little sphere. I've attached a couple of pictures of this animal, does anyone have an idea what this could be?

Thanks for the quick ID!

I feel a bit better knowing its a leather; I was feeling kind of guilty for buying a flowerpot coral.

It's in a moderate lighting/moderate flow area under 50/50 PCs and T5 Actinics, so it should hopefully do quite well.

sarco...

cant remember the whole name, but it starts with sarco...

i think

B :)

Thanks again, guys!

I've now done some googling, and it looks like this coral should be pretty well suited for my tank.

It seemed to me like it was in pretty low light at the store I got it from, I sure would be thrilled if it colored up like the neon polyped toadstool pics I saw! My lighting is by no means intense, but I think it was stronger than the stores.

I have a colt coral that seems to be doing well, so I expect this guy to act in kind.
