Picked this rock covered in mushrooms up today from Optimum, but this other coral caught my eye that was on it as well. Anyone know what it is?

Thanks.

Looks like both :)

My first thought was Goniopora but I don't know of any encrusting type. Doesn't mean there's no such thing - just I've never seen one.

Or it could be some pale Zoas/Palys. Can you tell if there's a skeleton under the polyps or not?

I was goniopora or alveopora. They are both simlar looking. Yes the polyps close up and retract so to say into a Skeleton that resembles a brain.

I was thinking is what I meant to say.

goniopora. I have one in my tank that I had to PAY for. So you got a good deal there my friend!

goniopora. alveopora only has 12 tentacles/polyp vs goniopora having 24.

It looks like my Goniopora did before it officially died. Do the polyps extend at any time during the day?

Edit: Note my profile pic. When it started to fail, the polyps would not fully retract at night. It would when it was healthy.
