Coral naming, especially zoanthids

How do y'all figure this stuff out?

One coral can have a dozen different names... One name can refer to a dozen different corals...

Sometimes the name sticks and sometimes it doesn't. Alot of it depends on who's doing the naming. Tyree or the like naming a coral tends to stick. Bob's basement reef and vacuum repair names something and it's probably going to go through a few variations. There isn't an official naming source, but coralpedia can help you out a bit.

but yes, there are some named by women (hobbiests)... but interestingly enough, there are not many MAJOR players/sellers that are women. It is kinda strange by the way..

2 that I can think of are Annette at Sexy Corals (Mike is husband) and JOANNE on r2r
