coralline algae or something else?

it looks more defined than the other coralline in the tank.

it occurs in a couple spots (different rocks) and the edge looks more like an encrusting coral than coralline typically does....

I think it's coralline. Mine goes through cycles and when it's growing really well I'll see white around the edges. Your's is a little more pronounced than I've ever seen but it still looks like coralline.
 
I have a spot in my tank that looks exactly like that....hard to the touch but it actually has little polyps that pop out every once in a while almost like toadstool leather polyps....bout a 1/8" long.....mines the same colour and same white rim...although mine has a more solid pink colour rather than patchy...so I'd say it was coraline

I thought it was coralline, but after I started looking at the edge, It looked like it was almost a ribbon, extending over the top of the rock (like pulling a blanket over a chair) I just haven't seen it doing that in my other tank.
