Below is the official website and the thread of the LED fixture manufacturer (ThorTek) in Taiwan.

The official website is in Chinese version!
As for the thread, you can try to click into those connections to tanks of their customers!

The LED fixture is composed of six Hi-power LED strips (six 1.25W LED lamps on one strip). Totally 45W power consumption and can simulate light of one 150W MH lamp! About 1/3 energy consumption of MH! According to my personal observation, LEDs do not generate radiant heat to the water, which means that the water will not be heated as under the illumination of MH or other lighting source! In this aspect, more energy can be saved for the operation of chiller! I am quite satisfied with this fixture till now! Are you interested in too?

The red light is for enhancing the coloration of non-fluorescent corals and fishes in marine tanks! According to my personal observation, gig difference can be clearly observed under pure blue LED light and the same condition with red LED light. Of course, the addition of red light can also fill part of the spectrum in the red light region!

I don't sell this fixture myself. But I know the manufaturer quite well. About a week ago, I just introduced one of the members on ReefCentral to the general manager of "ThorTek" for purchasing the prouduct from Taiwan to PA. U.S. Their products are not available in U.S. market yet. But if any one of you are interested, especially the quotation of the units, please send me a PM privately since the advertisement here should be unacceptable or illegal I think!

I think I just violate the rule of no-commercial behavior! Sorry about this! There will be no further information involved with the fixture!

The one you have seen in the magazine might also be the product designed in Taiwan (manufactured assembled in China). It is said that one can easily tune the color of the light from circling the controller, but I personally think it is nothing but just a stunt. There are lots of people keeping the marine tank by using MH, T5, and other light sources. Without the color-tunable function, they still can keep the corals and fishes healthy and brilliant, aren't they? I think a suitable or appropriate light intensity and spectrum is much more important than the fancy functiona. Anyway, this is just my own opinion! Not meant to criticize!

How long have you had this set up? I love coral specific tanks, but it takes so much patience to let it grow out.

This Zoa Only tank was set up in Nov. 2008. As I have mentioned in the previous post, this tank is a sub-display tank of my whole reef system:

The whole system is composed of:
(a) 50 gal main display tank
(b) 20 gal sub-display tank (zoas only)
(c) sump
(d) refuge (not completely set up yet)
