Crab ID

Anyone have any idea what he is? I found him in the DT a while ago and removed him.

I had an emerald in there a while ago, but hadn't seen him in forever. The claws look much different on this guy.

I am no expert by any means but that doesn't look like the emeralds I have had.


I am going on a cruise.....on my lawnmower around my yard.

How does it move if you scare it? Does it walk or swim?

The crab is about 2" across the widest part of his shell and about an inch tall. He is beefy.

I did some research and this is what he looks like. I think he is a Xanthidae Crab (top row of pictures).

He is a Actaeodes tomentosus Guam crab. Supposedly they are evil little buggers. anyone have any experience with them?

You cant really see in this picture, but emerald's don't have blood red eyes. You can see the crab a little better in this picture (not mine).

Red eyes are a sign of evil... I would get that crab out!

Could be a gorilla crab if so there not good

xanthid crab...put it in your sump but not with corals
