Crash!!!!!

ahh man sorry to hear that. But once your bitten by the reef bug it really doesn't go away. I was out for almost 8 years. One thing didn't stop though, I always visited my favorite LFS and then one day decided to make my tank the best it has ever been. I have lost a fish or two, but I can honestly say it wasn't because of anything I did. The fact that you care so much shows that your on the right track, dont give up keep working on that 180, it will feel better once your up and running again.

Very sorry to hear that but try to cheer up you have larger tank to set up and your fishies will have a bigger home.

Dang, Man. Hate to hear this. Hang in there, though. We've all been through tank crashes, and bounced back. You are in the right place. The folks in this club are what made me not give up, and I haven't even met any of them in person. I'm in Montgomery, AL, but, if there is anything I can do, please let me know...

Sorry to hear that, I'm not getting to that point yet but already have losses, you can have my peppermint shirmps if you want they are two and like to eat a lot, let me know if I can help when I come back.

Dude I have SO many extra heaters. You should have posted and asked everyone, i'm sure others would have helped out too.

It wasn't a temp problem. I got new heaters in and my temp was holding steady at 77-78 degrees. It would appear that something just zapped all of the oxygen right out of the tank. I'm beginning to wonder if the Stress Coat had something to do with it but then again, why didn't it happen in both tanks.

sorry to hear that - really sucks - but we have all had some sort of diasater or bad luck- remember you have a piece of the freaking ocean in your house! no one said it would be easy!

I don't have experience with this, and I'm just grasping at straws for a possible explanation so check this out with someone with more chemistry experience.

Isn't Vitamin C also used as a form of carbon dosing, i.e. food source for nitrogen bacteria, Could there have been a bacterial explosion that depleted the O2. Food source ( I think that you'd have to dose a lot) plus the higher temps could be possible for a lot of growth. Once again I'll let someone with more experience chime in, I imagine that skimmer would be going crazy and the water would be a bit hazy as well.

The fish would be more sensitive to lack of O2 and would expire first.

Sorry to here that about your fish. You got me spooked. Will be doing something like that with my 90 and 60, Getting the 180 set up.

Jeff, so sorry to hear about your troubles. I think when you were at my place I was in the middle of transferring from my 46 bow front to my 90gl via the 65gl that I had set up in the dining room. Upgrading can be a big production, but the hard hard work pays off in the end.

Hang in there man!!!!

Looking forward to helping you seed the 180.

Let me know when you are ready...

Dennis

+1

Sorry for your losses. I wonder if they are in that great reef in the sky

I am really sorry to hear this. I recently had problems with my tank, tried everything but kept losing some things. Luckily no fish, but I understand your frustration.

Again, sorry for your loss

Jeff...what helps me, is when I just take a break from even making a decison, let the emotion dissipate, and see if I get bitten by the bug again - but that is me.

Tony...you're right and that's exactly what I did albeit only for a couple of days but between that and all the words of wisdom from this group.....I'm determined to make up for this loss.
