Cyano algae problem

+1 agreed. If you are going to go "lights out" and cover the tank, go ahead and add as much flow as possible. The more oxygen in the water the better.

There are some good products likes "Red Slime Remover" that oxygenate the water and help kill the red slime. Just a warning, your skimmer will go wild for a good week or two if you does this stuff :wow2:

Its likely not lighting unless your bulbs are old; i would use half cubes and let them thaw in a cup with tank water, afterwards use a screen to filter the nasty water off that is associated with "some" frozen foods. I never throw ANY frozen foods strait in the tank from the package, only exclusion so far is reef frenzy because its clean :D

If memory serves me right, this is a nano tank? I would go even less than half. If there's still food floating around after a few mins......it's too much.

Agreed, if its a nano you are way over feeding; half cube is like what u feed a 40G. Did you recently end up adding that sand from your other post? If so how?
