I am looking for a unit that controls a fan (or other 120V device) based on either relative humidity (above x% = ON) or temperature (above x degrees = ON)

Anyone an idea?

White Rodgers commercial Thermostat with rh control. Two 24v relays and a transformer to switch 120 to 24. Can be had for less than 200

I'm planning to use arduino to make a reef controller and it has the ability to do this. Arduino board ($30), Temp & Humidity sensor ($10). Add a couple relays, spend some time programming, and you would be set.

I haven't priced out relays completely yet, but I think what you (or I) would need is $6-8. Total price is probably between $50 and $100 by the time you factor in wires, housing, etc.

What else can one do with arduino? Control LEDs, monitor PH, temp, or anything else that has a sensor, ATO. My understanding is that the possibilities are limitless.

Just thought I'd throw another option out there.

it wont let me link the specific page.look under Climate Controllers on the left.first listed is the C.A.P. Humidity controller, sounds like what youre looking for.we have a greenhouse and ive ordered many times from DH.very reliable and great equipment.much is the same stuff we use in reefing.

found it

Edit: Looks like the
C.A.P. Humidity Controller HUM-1 would work. Just plug in the fan, good find.
