I have dead rock in a tank with t5 and no coraline algae on it just diatoms..how do i get my dead rock to grow pretty coraline algae? some one said get some seachem reef builder another person said just raise the calcuim..which is correct?

Calcium and light is your best bet. And getting that special little bit of coraline. I honestly waited until my rock cured and just bought a few small pieces with coraline on them that did the trick.

best coraline growth I saw was in a vat with nothing but actinics on it and the calcium and magnesium were kept at 500 and 1500 respectively.

if you wait.... it will grow... just pick up one small piece of LR w/ coraline from a fellow reefer or LFS... for awhile i had horrible calcium/mag levels and that never stopped the coraline.... i believe the coraline will suck up your calcium before your corals will... eventually you'll spend more time thinking about how to scrape it off your glass than you will now about getting it to grow....

i agree 100%

As mentioned, you have to introduce Coraline like from another rock, mag-float, whatever. After that, make sure your CA/ALK/MG levels are decent and you have light. From there, patience...

IME it takes about 6 months to see a GOOD solid coverage of coraline on rocks.
