Decent Skimmer?

I think they're just bubble magus clones. If you can find the raitng on their version, I'm sure it would be along the same lines for SCA. Most are between 6-10 inches.

I'm a big proponent of using at least a 2x margin when sizing skimmers.

I was thinking the same thing. I might be wrong but i would think having to much would be better than not having enough.

Precisely!

The air/gas exchange is crucial in a reef tank. It substitutes for wave action, among others. That's your 'foamy seas'. This all helps stabilize water chemistry- pH, alkalinity ORP, etc.

There is no real 'going overboard', as long as the skimmer doesn't become the tank ;)

I sent Gixx a pm on a octo dnwb 110 for real dirt cheap with a bad pump, external and recir.
Somebody chyme in on replacement pump and converting internal config.

Well i pulled the trigger on the SCA-303. Have heard good reviews from people that have used them and for the price i dont think i can go wrong. The only bad that people are saying is about the pump and if i get a year out of it and have to purchase a new one than so be it but i think i will take my chances.

I don't think you went wrong, I got mine used from a store over in La Venture Dr. And I believe it has some miles on it, then I been using it for about eight months and this thing is kiking as it were New!!! Then you purchased new and I never found any complaint in my research about CS. Good luck!!!
