The heater is a little to tall for the filter.. it has
Mechanical Filter Pads: 1
Activated Carbon: 1
Nano-Balls Biomedia: 1 Bag
and it has the drip trays like a big sump...

I would remove the bioballs. Never heard anything good about them when it comes to reefs. Somethings like a bag a chemi-pure would be better. And when that carbon is exhausted, Purigen is like synthetic carbon that can be reused so it saves you money in the long run.

That tank looks a bit bigger than a 10g. I love the rockwork. Nice job.

Thanks Stacy22!
Scuba- Yea I was contemplating changing it up.. I have a big tub of purigen. Iv just gotta remember to get some smaller bags.. And I was thinking about getting some rubble rock and breaking it into littler pieces to replace the bioballs. Ive never seen bioballs like came with this filter its a 4x3 bag stuffed full on bioballs about the size of marbels... Never used chemi-pure before... do you have to replace it?

Yeah make sure you get one of the bags with finer holes. When I first used it I had little bits of purigin everywhere cause they escapes the bag somehow

It would be best to have a light with the rock so that it can function just like the rock in the main tank. With your set up, it looks like the filter would get light.

Yeah, you have to replace chemi-pure but I think it lasts several months and I just bought my first bag of it for $7.

I use chemipure elite. I love it. Just change it every 5 weeks or so. I like the rock work BTW.

Here the pics of the canopy I just finished for the nano! Came out pretty sweet.. Put a bigger p/c light in it too.. This should light it up a bit!

where did you get that flow diverter (i'm not sure what else to call it, but i think you should be able to figure it out)?

i used bio balls for 9 yrs never rinsed or washed them, water changes ever 6 months needed or not and never had 10% of all the troubles i read about here. i think alot of problems are self inflicted by some who think they know better than mother nature. add this add that do this do that, i just leave mine alone and enjot it, i'm just sayin. :bubba:

course you've never seen my tank on tank of the month, but i've never had a crash either, knock on wood. :shades:

The flow diverter is actually a double headed lock line. It came with the filter.. The filter is a currentusa subcurrent wet/dry filter

Good news! No more LED questions! I just won a new marineland reef cap LED setup on eBay.. $100 bones figured that was $70-$80 cheaper than the LFS are selling them for.. Sorry had to brag for a sec! Lol

Here's a sneak peek at the new stand I'm building for my girlfriends nano.. It will match the custom canopy great! Ready for primer, sand , then black satin coat... And after all that... Some mosaic tile work... I think it's gonna look good!

Chemipure elite and purigen are great.... A lot of folks on nano reef love the media baskets for nanos....
