I had gotten one yesterday from Avarium, my boys love it, they go over to watch him do his thing. I was freaking out this morning because I hadn't seen him out by noon, I took my tank apart, all but the big piece of live rock, just cause it's too big to move. But I got sad thinking it had died and was bummed! Bu then sitting here eating dinner I saw his reflection on the tank and I was so happy to see him out and about again!! Do they tend to hide a lot? My boys don't bang on the tank or anything like that to scare them.....

Yup. Not unusual at all. Lots of fish will do that. I have a Purple Fire Fish that I don't see for up to a week and although it is not a fish, I have a Tiger Spot Sea Cucumber that I see about 1 every month or two. LOL

not to take away from the original post, but i got a gbta from someone here during the summer, and it disappeared about a week later, never to be seen again (for about 2-3 months now)

My diamond goby can be skittish, but he's all over the tank. After he gets used to your tank, I'm sure he'll be rearranging the sand to suit his tastes. I still find it funny when I see him pick up a snail or hermit and move them out of the way.

LOLOLOLOL That's awesome!!!:lol2:

If you just got the fish, chances are he'll become more social as he gets used to the environment. Moving all the rock work around may actually stress him out more!

My Diamond goby hid for almost a week when i got him but he is out all the time now. He is probably my favorite fish. I also have a purple firefish and he hid for atleast a week after i added a foxface. Everyone is happy now.

He will make his burrow / cave and then come out more and more. but gobies tend to like their privacy :)

Be careful when you move rocks. (you prob. don't want to do that anyway as you could stung by apitasia or a worm...ect living in the rocks)
Anyway.....
Gobys are pretty cool in what they do, but they also burrow into the sand. You should notice alot of holes around or near your rocks. speaking of... now that you have a Goby, make sure your rocks are planted well into the sand and not sitting on top of them. If they are on top, you may find them falling down when the Goby digs under them.

Found my Goby this morning, Hide and seek!:yay:

Edit: Yea when I was putting on the rocks back in yesterday, I had made sure they were all sitting on the bottom of the tank and not on the sand!!
