I have a really bad infestation! They are EVERYWHERE in my tank. Is there any way to get rid of them? and can they kill shrimp? Something killed my anemone shrimp the other night. My water conditions are great, so I don't think it was that. Luckily they don't seem to bother the coral at all.

yank 'em out with tweezers, coat them with kalk and super glue.

change out the rock one by one.............attack from different angles slowly..........Kalk, Glue, change out rock.........etc.............work on it week by week.

I'm in a very similar position. I was ready to pull my hair out and spent a lot of time scouring the net for solutions. Was I going to have to tear everything down? I was going nuts until I stumbled across a post that said "Got hydroids?" and listed step 1 as "Calm down." It was great for me because I was kind of driving myself nuts. Since then I've been kalking, yanking and gluing. I don't know if I'll ever be rid of them but it's become part of my routine. I've had major aptasia problems in the past and worked my way through those and hopefully in a year I'll will have worked through this.

+1! I had problems when i was feeding newly hatched brine shrimp on a regular basis. The only way to rid them was by following Ralph's advice.. no easy short cut for this one! Good luck and you will eventually get them under control.
