I added a few peppermints into the tank a couple weeks ago. I haven't seen them since.

I figured they didn't make it or they had gotten eaten by the big red serpent star in the tank.

But the aiptaisia is gone for now... weird!

I have been told that you really shouldn't see Peppermints much after you place them in the tank. Same thing happened in my chalice tank. Didn't see the Peps but the aiptasia stared disappearing.

I always think my peppermints are gone. Then suddenly I'll see one!

No worries, they're in there somewhere!

I put mine in like 7 months ago. I've seen him 2 times since out of his cave. He's always in there upside down.

It was funny! The family was over (we were at the salon... we had eaten across the parking lot) and I was pruning out some beautiful macroalgae and was talking about how I'd really like to get rid of this nuisance... hey! Where'd it go???

So you think they actually ate the aiptasia? I've had a recent outbreak and was dreading the joe's juice/kalkwasser application, but I'd much rather buy some cool shrimp.

Australian Accent Alert!!!!!!

"Maybe the Dingos ate your aiptasia "

Peps do a remarkable job on those critters, and chill in cave and under overhangs when the lights are on!

I used to see my Peppermints out at night when the lights are out. Now I don't see them at all thanks to my Aussie Harlequin Tusk.

do they do well with other shrimp (Cleaner and Harlequin - although I havent seen him in several weeks), is that their only diet? I only have a few odd ones here and there, in places im afraid to use kalk paste or JJ.

Peppermints will eat other things too - I had one that ate krill out of my hand (somehow that just seems wrong...)

They will eat aiptasia, provided they aren't over-fed other stuff. If they aren't hungry, they won't eat the aiptasia, so keep that in mind if you get some for a natural control. If they are getting a smorgasbord of other stuff "delivered" they are less likely to scavenge and devour the aiptasia.

For really bad infestations sometimes a combination of chemical intervention (ie Aiptasia-X or similar), combined with adding some Peppermints is a good way to get the problem under control and KEEP it under control.

I had the worst aiptasia issue I'd ever seen. 13 peps in a 30 cube got them all
