Any one buy 1 or a school of Chromis (green) and find that slowly that start disappearing. I have no predators, parameters are excellent and it was eating like it had 3 rectums! It's not in my sump or anywhere it can get trapped. I was going to buy a school after suffering an ich outbreack 2 months ago. But don't want to do it, if this is one of their mysteries.

How many did you start with, and how many have you lost? If the tank has been going for a while, there are plenty of critters that will eat em up when they die.

I've always heard they outcompete/kill the others.. If you want 5 buy 10..

Not sure.. I'm down to 2 of them.. Although mine are HUGE!

Never Heard That But That Would Explain Why I Started With 3 And Now Only Have 1 Remaining. The Remaining One Was Always The Most Active And Will Always Come Out And Say Hello...

usually about 1/3 will die in the first week, after that they start picking off weaker ones in the group(does not matter the size of the group either)

I got 35 of them originally(wanted a school of 20), and after a week I was down to about 25, then over a month it went down to 13 or 14 I think. Havent lost any more over the past 3 months though.

gonna go get another 15 to try and get to my original goal of 20.

Well, I am not going to go that route. I rather spend the money on something with a lower mortality rate.

Thanks for the insight!

They decide how many will be in the tank !! try as you will but if the strongest only want themselves you could put a hundred in there and they will thin them out

Yup they kill each other. I had 9, now down to 2. I've seen them pick on the weaker ones. Not to mention they are terrible with transport. It's a shame, I love them! Oh well.

Don't forget about Barry the Giant Worm - a 4 ft bristle worm that was killing fish at night in a Cornwall aquarium. They had to completely break down the tank and apparently a few workers found their hands permanently numbed after touching it. They think it came in on live rock. Hope you won't have an issue like that :).
